Track of the Week: "Noeilla" Stegga feat. Stoney B

What can be sweeter than a song that combines fine vocals and island romance? 

Our "Track of the Week" titleholder this week has nailed those two qualities and probably went a mile further in what could best be described as the collab of the Solomon Islands singing maestros.

Entitled "Noeilla", the song brings together the melodic voices of Stegga and one of the Solomon Islands' most underrated reggae vocalists, "Stoney B".

Lyrically, the song can't boast so much about carrying one of the most unique stories out there, but the most beautiful thing that wowed us in the song is the amazing vocals that transform an ordinary story into something sweet and extraordinary for the ears. We think the task of picking the vocalists for this song is diligent enough to receive praise.

Noeilla appears to be a heartbreaker in the story.

It is sung in the tone of a heartbroken boyfriend who seems to be on top of his sad days, wishing if his Noeilla could return from what appears to be a story told in a mixture of Bislama and Solomon Islands Pidgin.

If you haven't heard of Stoney B, you must be sleeping soundly under a rock.

This is one of the Solomon Islands' top musical artists who appeared on the local music scene quite recently.  

Stoney B whose real name is Berry Fau Siosi is perhaps more popular locally and regionally with his viral pub performances around Honiara with his Solomon Islands-based band, Flight Mode.

A lot of people compare his baritone rich vocals with the Hawaiian-based George Fiji Vaikoso and you just have to listen to him perform to see why people had the guts to make the comparison.

And Stegga himself is a different force altogether to be reckoned with. Famous for his appearance on "Slowly" with Ismuki and the Solomon Islands-based Chris Young, Stegga was uniquely exceptional in this song (in the chorus and the second verse).  

Noeilla's sweet island combination is capable of making you smile.
